Catherine O’Hara in Negotiations for Role in Season 2 of “The Last of Us”
Production for the highly anticipated “The Last of Us” Season 2 is gearing up, and this week brings exciting casting news. Catherine O’Hara, known for her role in “Beetlejuice 2,” is currently in talks to join the cast for the upcoming season.
O’Hara herself confirmed the rumors during a recent chat with Andy Cohen on “Watch What Happens Live.” The full interview, featuring O’Hara and Bryan Cranston, is available for viewing. In the discussion, O’Hara also mentioned that her son is working as a set dresser on the show.
The directorial team for Season 2 boasts an impressive lineup, including Mark Mylod (“Succession,” “The Menu”), Nina Lopez-Corrado (“Perry Mason”), Stephen Williams (“Watchmen”), and Kate Herron (“Loki”). They join the returning directors Peter Hoar, Craig Mazin, and Neil Druckmann.
The cast for the second season introduces new faces, with Kaitlyn Dever portraying Abby, Young Mazino as Jesse, and Isabela Merced as Dina, all characters originating from the video games.
“The Last of Us” Season 2 is set to adapt the storyline of the video game sequel, The Last of Us Part II. However, it is anticipated that the intricate and multi-character narrative of the game will span across at least two seasons.
HBO’s “The Last of Us” unfolds two decades after the collapse of modern civilization. Joel, a seasoned survivor, is tasked with smuggling Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of a repressive quarantine zone. What begins as a seemingly straightforward job transforms into a grueling and heart-wrenching journey as they navigate the post-apocalyptic United States, relying on each other for survival.
Pedro Pascal (“The Mandalorian”) takes on the role of Joel, while Bella Ramsey (“Game of Thrones”) portrays Ellie. Gabriel Luna (“Terminator: Dark Fate”) plays Tommy, Joel’s brother. The first season of the hit series also features Storm Reid, Anna Torv, Jeffrey Pierce, Nick Offerman, Merle Dandridge, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett, and Con O’Neil.
As the second season of “The Last of Us” unfolds, fans can expect the continuation of the gripping narrative that made the first season a resounding success.
