Blumhouse, the renowned production company, has finalized a significant book deal for Clémence Michallon‘s thrilling debut novel, “The Quiet Tenant.” In an official press release issued this afternoon, the news was shared with eager readers and industry insiders.

Described as an expertly paced psychological thriller with a gripping climax, “The Quiet Tenant” has garnered immense attention in the publishing world, resulting in rights being sold in thirty countries. Blumhouse Television has acquired the rights to develop the story as a premium limited series or streaming film adaptation.

Recognized as one of the most highly anticipated novels of the year by IndieNext and GoodReads, “The Quiet Tenant” has recently been published by Knopf in the U.S. and Abacus in the U.K. With glowing reviews calling it spellbinding, absolutely brilliant, creepy, claustrophobic, and compelling, and a tour de force of suspense and character, the novel firmly establishes Clémence Michallon as an exciting new voice in the suspense genre.

Jason Blum, founder, and CEO of Blumhouse, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “I read Clémence’s novel in one sitting and was riveted. The story has all the elements of a great screen adaptation.”

Michallon herself is equally thrilled about collaborating with Blumhouse, acknowledging the producer’s impressive track record and a strong vision for bringing “The Quiet Tenant” to life. As an executive producer on the project, Michallon is excited to work closely with Blumhouse on the adaptation.

“The Quiet Tenant” takes a unique approach to the serial killer genre by focusing not on the murderer but on those affected by his crimes. Through the perspectives of three women – his daughter, his girlfriend, and the captive he plans to kill – the haunting and gripping narrative explores the consequences of the killer’s actions. Michallon, drawing on her background as a reporter, assumed the responsibility of crafting an authentic serial killer novel, centering the story around the voices of women who have been victimized.

With its powerful themes of trauma, survival, and the dynamics of power, “The Quiet Tenant” promises to captivate readers and become one of the most buzz-worthy novels of the year.
