Just in time for Halloween, the highly anticipated second season of HBO’s Original Series, “30 Coins,” is set to terrify viewers. The official trailer for this new season promises to plunge audiences into a blood-soaked Hell.

Paul Giamatti joins the cast for Season 2, adding to the excitement. The eight-episode season, a production of HBO Europe in Spain, is scheduled to premiere on HBO and will also be available for streaming on Max starting October 23, 2023.

Directed and co-written by renowned horror filmmaker Álex de la Iglesia (known for works like “The Day of the Beast,” “Witching & Bitching,” and “The Last Circus”), “30 Coins” takes viewers on a journey into a world where nothing is as it seems, and trust is a scarce commodity. De la Iglesia co-writes the series alongside Jorge Guerricaechevarria.

The first season, comprising eight episodes, followed Father Vergara (Eduard Fernández), an exorcist, boxer, and former convict, who is assigned as the priest of a remote Spanish town by the church. As his tumultuous past and old adversaries resurface, inexplicable phenomena begin to occur. Mayor Paco (Miguel Ángel Silvestre) and local veterinarian Elena (Megan Montaner) form an unlikely alliance to uncover the truth, all while a cursed coin lies at the center of a global conspiracy, distorting reality.

In Season Two, the residents of Pedraza, a remote Spanish town plagued by demonic incidents, have descended into madness and are confined to a psychiatric hospital. Elena remains in a coma in a Madrid hospital bed, while Paco, tormented by guilt, cares for her. As the horrors escalate, a new and mysterious adversary (Giamatti) emerges, so malevolent that even the devil fears him.

Macarena Gómez, Pepón Nieto, Cósimo Fusco, Manolo Solo, Nuria González, Javier Bódalo, Manuel Tallafé, and Najwa Nimri round out the ensemble cast.

Season One concluded with numerous unresolved questions. What became of Father Vergara? How will the town recover after their tumultuous journey? The Season 2 trailer suggests that things have become even more chaotic. And viewers can only anticipate what diabolical creatures de la Iglesia and Guerricaechevarria have in store for them next.
