This may not be horror-related, but I felt the duty to post that long-time soap star and former MLB player, Drake Hogestyn, best known as John Black on NBC and Peacock’s Days of Our Lives, passed away at 70. Life threw him a curveball when he was battling pancreatic cancer, and word got out that he was sick (due to his rapid loss of weight). Still, he didn’t tell the viewing audience or public about how serious things were until rumors started to spiral with prayers for him and his family over the past few days.

Drake will continue to air on Days of Our Lives for roughly six more months due to the advanced filming schedule, with the character being written off and a funeral to air sometime in the spring/summer 2025.

All of us here at GoreCulture give our thoughts and prayers to Drake’s family, friends, costars, and fans during this difficult time!
