French filmmaker Xavier Gens, known for his works like “Frontiers” and “Cold Skin,” is making a grand return with his latest action-packed film, “Mayhem!” Exciting news has emerged as Variety reports that IFC Films has secured the film for distribution.

Fans can look forward to experiencing “Mayhem!” when it hits theaters in 2024. But before that, the film is all set to make its grand premiere at the prestigious Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal, running through August 9, 2023.

Nassim Lyes takes on the lead role of Sam, a character who faces immense challenges upon his release from prison. His struggle to escape the clutches of a local gang lord sends him on a journey to Thailand. However, when he embarks on a mission to rescue a kidnapped family member, he finds himself entangled with the very underbelly he tried to leave behind.

Olivier Gourmet, Loryn Nounay, Vithaya Pansringarm, and Sahajak Boonthanakit also feature in the film’s stellar cast.

“Mayhem!” promises to deliver an energetic and gripping experience, highlighted by breathtaking fight choreography. While it nods to classics like “The Raid” and “Taken,” the film stands as a remarkable addition to the hand-to-hand action genre in its own right. Scott Shooman, the head of AMC Networks’ Film Group, expressed excitement about collaborating with the talented team behind the film to bring this captivating story to the big screen.

The script for “Mayhem!” was penned by Magali Rossitto, Guillaume Lemans, and Xavier Gens himself. With such an impressive lineup and the director’s signature style, “Mayhem!” is poised to captivate audiences with its intense action and thrilling narrative.
