Official ‘Companion’ Trailer Unveils the Sci-Fi Plot of Thatcher’s New Horror Film
Acclaimed director Robert Eggers (known for The Witch and The Lighthouse) is giving the horror classic Nosferatu a fresh spin this holiday season. Focus Features has just released the official trailer, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the dark atmosphere of the film.
In this adaptation, Bill Skarsgård portrays Nosferatu/Count Orlok, although his menacing appearance remains shrouded in mystery in the trailer. This clever choice by Focus Features heightens the suspense as audiences eagerly await the film’s release.
Nosferatu is set to hit theaters on December 25, 2024.
Described as “a gothic tale of obsession,” the film unfolds in 19th-century Germany, where a haunted young woman finds herself targeted by an ancient Transylvanian vampire who brings with him unimaginable horror.
The cast includes Willem Dafoe, Nicholas Hoult, Emma Corrin, and Lily-Rose Depp, alongside Aaron Taylor-Johnson (from Kraven the Hunter), Simon McBurney, and Ralph Ineson.
Eggers not only directs but also wrote the script, and he produces alongside Chris Columbus, Eleanor Columbus, Jeff Robinov, and John Graham.
The original Nosferatu, directed by F.W. Murnau in 1922, is a silent film that follows Count Orlok as he attempts to purchase a house in Germany, becoming infatuated with the real estate agent’s wife. This unofficial adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula faced near destruction due to copyright issues.
In 1979, renowned German filmmaker Werner Herzog also created his own version of this iconic tale.
