Next ‘V/H/S’ Sequel Takes a Sci-Fi Turn: Shudder Unveils Seventh Installment at New York Comic Con!
The V/H/S franchise continues to push boundaries, as Shudder announced a seventh installment during this year’s New York Comic Con. This untitled sequel will venture into the realm of sci-fi horror and feature five new chilling tapes set within a sci-fi-inspired hellscape.
Following the record-breaking premiere of V/H/S/85 on Shudder, this upcoming Shudder Original Film is set to release in 2024. V/H/S/85 made history by becoming the most-watched exclusive film premiere of 2023 for Shudder and AMC+, contributing to Shudder’s most prominent acquisition day of the year. AMC+ viewership for the film also saw a 25% increase compared to the previous installment, V/H/S/99.
Scott Shooman, Head of AMC Networks’ Film Group, expressed his excitement about the franchise’s continued success, emphasizing the innovative capabilities of sci-fi within the world of V/H/S. Producer Josh Goldbloom added, “The sci-fi horror genre provides us an infinite playground of forbidden worlds and dangerous lifeforms, a formula which we’re confident will lead to the biggest, maddest, bloodiest V/H/S ever.”
Michael Schreiber, President of Scripted Content at Studio71, highlighted the V/H/S franchise’s significance in the horror genre as a platform for filmmakers to push boundaries and tell innovative stories.
The Shudder New York Comic-Con panel featured an All-Stars panel with veteran V/H/S directors and producers, including Josh Goldbloom, David Bruckner, Chloe Okuno, Natasha Kermani, and Tyler McIntyre.
Producers for the next installment of V/H/S include Josh Goldbloom for Cinepocalypse, Brad Miska, and James Harris, with Michael Schreiber and Adam Boorstin serving as executive producers for Studio71.
The deal was negotiated by Emily Gotto and Nicholas Lazo on behalf of Shudder and Schreiber and Federico J. Blanco on behalf of Studio71.
