Update: David Leitch Steps Down from Directing Duties for Next ‘Jurassic World’ Sequel in 2025

Universal had previously slated July 2, 2025, as the release date for the next chapter in the beloved Jurassic Park / Jurassic World saga. However, the project has hit its first snag.

Initial reports indicated that David Leitch (known for “Bullet Train,” “Deadpool 2,” and “Atomic Blonde”) was in discussions to helm the new installment. However, plans have swiftly shifted.

According to Deadline, “Universal is back on the search for a director to helm its next Jurassic World movie as Deadline is hearing David Leitch is no longer in talks to direct the film.”

The report further states, “Insiders suggest that while the split was amicable, the studio and Leitch had divergent visions for the film.”

David Koepp has been tasked with penning the script for this next phase of the Jurassic World franchise, promising to transport audiences into “a new Jurassic era,” presumably introducing fresh characters to the cinematic universe.

This news follows the trilogy of sequels — “Jurassic World,” “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom,” and “Jurassic World: Dominion” — which concluded in 2022.

Moreover, fans can anticipate the arrival of “Jurassic World: Chaos Theory” later this year, an animated series produced by Netflix set within the realm of “Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous.”

Frank Marshall is set to produce the upcoming installment, with Steven Spielberg serving as executive producer, ensuring that the legacy of Jurassic Park continues to captivate audiences worldwide.
