Twisted Horror Film ‘Traumatika’ Picked Up by Saban for U.S. Theatrical Release

Saban Films has secured the North American rights to Traumatika, a disturbingly inventive horror film set for a theatrical release later this year. The film promises to be a spine-chilling ride for horror enthusiasts, blending elements of demonic possession, slasher terror, and found footage in a way that’s sure to leave audiences shaken.
The story follows Mikey, a young boy whose night terrors take a horrifying turn when his mother begins showing signs of demonic possession. What begins as a nightmare soon escalates into a life-altering experience that will haunt Mikey—and others—across generations.
Directed by Pierre Tsigaridis (Two Witches) from a script he co-wrote with producer Maxime Rancon (Two Witches), Traumatika features a talented ensemble cast, including Rebekah Kennedy (Two Witches), Emily Goss, Ranen Navat, AJ Bowen (You’re Next), Sean O’Bryan (The Middle), Susan Gayle Watts, and Sean Whalen (The People Under the Stairs).
Saban Films co-presidents Jonathan Saba and Shanan Becker emphasized the film’s immersive experience: “Traumatika is not a movie you watch—it’s a movie you experience. And there’s no better way to experience it than on the big screen. Pierre and Maxime have crafted a truly disturbing film, and we can’t wait for audiences to dive into this mad, twisted world.”
Tsigaridis described the film as an intense sensory experience, blending horror genres in a way that pushes boundaries: “Traumatika merges the terror of demonic possession with the visceral energy of slasher films and the raw realism of found footage. It’s designed to fully immerse viewers in a nightmare. I’m thrilled to partner with Saban Films to bring it to theaters, where it can truly be experienced as it was intended.”
Rancon added that the film is a love letter to the horror subgenres they grew up watching: “It’s a twisted, relentless ride made by horror fans, for horror fans. This movie isn’t for the faint of heart, and we can’t wait to share this insane experience with the community who lives for this genre as much as we do.”
Traumatika made its world premiere at Fright Fest 2024 and has since been featured at several prestigious horror festivals, including Sitges, San Sebastian Horror and Fantasy Film Festival, Morbido Fest, Fantaspoa, and GrimmFest. With its dark, intense premise and a reputation for delivering shock and awe, Traumatika is poised to be one of the most talked-about horror films of the year.
