‘Trim Season’ – Horror Film Set on a Weed Farm Acquired for Summer Release
Director Ariel Vida’s upcoming horror film, “Trim Season,” explores the dark underbelly of a marijuana farm job, and according to Variety, it has been acquired by Blue Harbor Entertainment for release in the United States.
Although an exact release date has not yet been announced, audiences can anticipate the arrival of “Trim Season” in theaters and on VOD platforms this coming June.
In “Trim Season,” Emma, a young woman grappling with unemployment and searching for purpose, joins a group of twenty-somethings from Los Angeles to trim marijuana on a secluded farm in Northern California. However, their pursuit of quick cash takes a terrifying turn as they discover that the estate harbors sinister secrets. As they find themselves cut off from the outside world, Emma and her friends must race against time to escape the perilous woods and survive.
The cast of “Trim Season” features Bex Taylor-Klaus (“Scream,” “Hell Fest”), Alex Essoe (“Starry Eyes,” “Doctor Sleep”), Bethlehem Million (“Sick”), Jane Badler (“V,” “Free Fall”), Ally Ioannides (“Synchronic”), Cory Hart (“Fear the Walking Dead”), Ryan Donowho, Marc Senter, and Juliette Kenn De Balinthazy.
Michelle Swope’s review praises “Trim Season” for its suspenseful narrative, which delves into themes of pain and sacrifice, particularly regarding women and gender dynamics. Vida expressed excitement about Blue Harbor Entertainment’s acquisition, hoping that audiences will resonate with the film’s exploration of power, agency, friendship, and loss, as well as its stylized approach to horror.
“Trim Season” is produced by Aaron B. Koontz of Paper Street Pictures and Sean E.
