Just two months after his daughter Ishana Night Shyamalan made her big-screen debut in the horror film “The Watchers,” M. Night Shyamalan returns with his latest thriller “Trap.” A new trailer offers a closer glimpse into the suspenseful narrative.

Scheduled for nationwide release on August 2, 2024, a week earlier than initially planned, “Trap” marks Shyamalan’s sixteenth directorial venture, produced under Warner Bros.

In this upcoming thriller starring Josh Hartnett, the story revolves around a father and his teenage daughter who find themselves unwittingly embroiled in a dark and ominous event while attending a pop concert.

Written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan, “Trap” features a cast including Josh Hartnett, Ariel Donoghue, Saleka Shyamalan, Hayley Mills, and Allison Pill. The film’s production team includes Ashwin Rajan, Marc Bienstock, and M. Night Shyamalan as producers, with Steven Schneider serving as executive producer.

The newly released official trailer showcases Hartnett’s character navigating through chaotic scenes at the pop concert, revealing the event to be a meticulously crafted trap aimed at capturing a sadistic serial killer known as The Butcher.

Saleka Shyamalan portrays the fictional pop star Lady Raven in the thriller, described by Hartnett as “very bizarre” and “very dark.”

“Trap” boasts cinematography by Sayombhu Mukdeeprom (“Call Me by Your Name”), production design by Debbie de Villa (“The Hating Game”), and editing by Noëmi Preiswerk. Original songs for the film are composed and performed by Saleka Night Shyamalan, with music by Herdĭs Stefănsdŏttir (“Knock at the Cabin”) and music supervision by Susan Jacobs (“Old”). Costume design is handled by Caroline Duncan (“Old”), while Javier Marcheselli (“Dune”) oversees visual effects and Douglas Aibel (“Asteroid City”) leads the casting process.
