“Trap”: Josh Hartnett Describes M. Night Shyamalan’s Upcoming Film as “Extremely Peculiar” and “Deeply Gritty
M. Night Shyamalan has inked a multi-year first-look directing and producing deal with Warner Bros., with his enigmatic psychological thriller titled “Trap” set to kick off the collaboration.
Scheduled for theatrical release on August 2, 2024, “Trap” reportedly unfolds against the backdrop of a concert. Josh Hartnett, known for his role in “30 Days of Night,” leads the cast and hints at a significant departure in his acting journey with this project.
In an interview with Indiewire, Hartnett describes the film as a pivotal moment for him as an actor, emphasizing the importance of embracing diversity in roles to keep the audience engaged.
“Working with M. Night was one of the best experiences of my career,” Hartnett shares. “I think he’s a true artist in the capital-A sense of the word. And I think people are gonna be really surprised and excited about the movie we make. It’s very bizarre, very dark, and it’s wild.”
The cast for “Trap” also includes Hayley Mills, Marnie McPhail, Vanessa Smythe, Saleka Shyamalan, Scott Ian MacDougall, Kristi Woods, and Cali Lorella, according to IMDb.
Under this new deal with Warner Bros., Shyamalan’s production company, Blinding Edge Pictures, will focus on developing original projects for Warner Bros Pictures and New Line Cinema.
In a related development, Shyamalan’s daughter, Ishana Night Shyamalan, is set to make her feature debut with “The Watchers” for WB/New Line, with M. Night Shyamalan producing.
