Demián Rugna, the filmmaker who sent shivers down audiences’ spines with “Terrified” in 2017, is back with a bone-chilling new horror movie titled “When Evil Lurks.” Today, a newly unveiled poster and trailer provide a tantalizing glimpse into the nightmarish evil plaguing a town, unleashing shocking violence.

Shudder and IFC Films are set to present “When Evil Lurks” in theaters on October 6, followed by its Shudder premiere on October 27.

Take a peek at the gruesome new trailer above.

In the movie, a pair of brothers stumble upon a mutilated corpse near their property and seek the counsel of the locals to unravel the sinister mystery. They soon discover that the eerie occurrences in their village are linked to a malevolent spirit that has possessed a local man, awaiting the proper rituals to purge his body of the festering demon. What follows is a harrowing escape attempt as the film keeps its protagonists teetering on the edge, racing against impending peril to break free from the relentless clutches of the vengeful spirit.

The cast includes Ezequiel Rodriguez, Demián Salomon, Luis Ziembrowski, Silvia Sabater, and Marcelo Michinaux.

Director Demián Rugna expressed, “Working with Shudder has been an incredible and seamless experience. They provided me with the creative freedom to direct while sharing the same goal – to astonish and terrify audiences with an innovative approach and a fresh narrative.”

Charades co-founders Pierre Mazars, Carole Baraton, and Yohann Comte expressed their excitement about continuing their collaboration with Shudder/IFC Films and their awe at seeing this Argentinean film, stating, “We can’t wait to witness the audience’s reaction in Toronto.”

“When Evil Lurks” is a collaborative production effort between Shudder, Machaco Films, and Aramos Cine.
