Outback terror takes center stage in the upcoming creature feature ‘The Red‘, starring Michael Biehn. This week, the official trailer for the film has been released, ramping up excitement for the October 31 premiere in Australian cinemas.

The Red expands on Ryan Coonan’s 2014 festival hit short film Waterborne. Both the film’s direction and screenplay are handled by Coonan, alongside co-writer Richard Barcaricchio.

Set in the Australian outback, the film follows young police officer Maddy, who strives to honor her late father’s legacy. Her bravery is put to the ultimate test when a zombie kangaroo named Rippy begins a spree of gruesome attacks on locals.

As the undead menace leaves a trail of devastation, Maddy must team up with her quirky uncle Schmitty and her tough aunt Donna in a high-stakes fight to protect their town.

The cast also includes Tess Haubrich, Aaron Pederson, and Angie Milliken.

Director Ryan Coonan describes The Red as a horror comedy that draws inspiration from classic creature features like The Thing, An American Werewolf in London, Jaws, and Razorback.

Producer Jessica Butland promises an exhilarating experience: “This film is a wild ride from start to finish, delivering everything fans of creature features expect from such a unique concept. It also appeals to mainstream audiences with its nods to classic Aussie slang and pop culture.”
