The timeless horror series, The Omen, is set for a chilling resurrection with the release of the brand-new 20th Century Studios film, The First Omen, slated for this year. Recently, the Motion Picture Association (MPA) unveiled the film’s rating, stamping it with an “R” classification due to its intense content.

The First Omen earns its “R” rating for its depiction of violent scenes, disturbing imagery, and brief instances of graphic nudity. Fans can brace themselves for a terrifying cinematic experience when the film hits theaters on April 5, 2024. For a taste of the impending horror, viewers can catch a glimpse of the official trailer released earlier.

In this installment, the storyline unfolds around a young American woman dispatched to Rome to embark on a life devoted to serving the church. However, her journey takes a dark turn when she encounters malevolent forces that not only challenge her faith but also unravel a sinister conspiracy aimed at birthing pure evil.

The ensemble cast features Nell Tiger Free (“Servant”), Tawfeek Barhom (“Mary Magdalene”), Sonia Braga (“Kiss of the Spider Woman”), Ralph Ineson (known for “The Witch” and his online persona Onyx the Fortuitous), and Bill Nighy (“Living”).

Arkasha Stevenson helms the director’s chair for this installment, working with characters crafted by David Seltzer (“The Omen”). The story was penned by Ben Jacoby (“Bleed”), with a screenplay by Tim Smith & Arkasha Stevenson and Keith Thomas (“Firestarter”). David S. Goyer (“Hellraiser”) and Keith Levine (“The Night House”) serve as producers, with Tim Smith, Whitney Brown (“Rosaline”), and Gracie Wheelan taking on executive producer roles.

The original 1976 classic, starring Gregory Peck, Lee Remick, and Harvey Stephens, followed the harrowing tale of an American ambassador who becomes convinced that his five-year-old son is the Antichrist—a narrative that gripped audiences with its spine-chilling premise.
