‘The First Exorcist’: ‘Wolf Creek’ Director Greg McLean Announces New Horror Film
Filming for The First Exorcist is set to begin next year in Australia, according to Deadline. The supernatural horror film, directed by Greg McLean (Wolf Creek, Wolf Creek 2), promises a gripping blend of religious and supernatural themes set in Biblical times.
The plot centers on a mother’s desperate journey to save her daughter from demonic possession. As their lives spiral into chaos, she learns of a mysterious healer capable of expelling demons and embarks on a perilous mission against time, facing hostile Roman authorities along the way.
Deadline reports that cutting-edge virtual production technology will be employed in Victoria to recreate ancient cities and locations, enhancing the film’s epic scope.
Mark Fennessy from Helium highlights, “Greg’s script combines intense emotional depth with stunning scares, set against a compelling historical backdrop. His refined storytelling and dynamic visual style are set to make The First Exorcist a landmark film experience.”
This will be Greg McLean’s first feature film since Jungle (2017), which starred Daniel Radcliffe. He is also known for directing The Darkness (2016) and The Belko Experiment (2016).
