Dark Star Pictures has announced its acquisition of the quirky genre-bending comedy, “The Becomers,” which delves into the escapades of body-snatching aliens navigating love in contemporary society.

In “The Becomers,” we follow two extraterrestrials who flee their dying planet and find themselves on Earth, embarking on a quest to reunite with each other by inhabiting various human bodies. As they traverse modern-day America, they become entangled in its madness while exploring themes of love and identity.

Penned, directed, and edited by Zach Clark, known for “Little Sister,” the film was shot in Chicago and boasts a talented cast including Molly Plunk, Mike Lopez, Frank V. Ross, Isabel Alamin, and Keith Kelly. Additionally, the voice of Russell Mael, lead singer of Sparks, adds a unique flair to the production. The film is produced by Joe Swanberg and Edwin Linker of Slasher Films.

“The Becomers” stands out for its fusion of genres, weaving elements of horror, comedy, and science fiction against the backdrop of American politics. According to Dark Star president Michael Repsch, the film’s distinctiveness is its greatest asset, promising a captivating experience for audiences upon its release in 2024.

Director Zach Clark shares that “The Becomers” is a reflection of the tumultuous year of 2020, aiming to capture its essence and resonate with viewers. Teaming up with Dark Star, Clark looks forward to sharing his inventive creation with the world.

Critics have praised “The Becomers” for its audacious blend of absurdist humor, sci-fi elements, and romantic comedy tropes. At its core, the film offers a thought-provoking exploration of love amidst societal chaos, challenging viewers’ perceptions and occasionally pushing the boundaries of comfort.
