‘Thanksgiving 2’: Nell Verlaque and Rick Hoffman Expected to Reprise Roles in Eli Roth’s Slasher Sequel

The slasher film “Thanksgiving,” directed by Eli Roth, has recently become available on DVD and Blu-ray, and the excitement doesn’t end there for fans. A sequel, aptly titled “Thanksgiving 2,” is in the works and is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release in 2025 under Sony’s TriStar. Eli Roth and Jeff Rendell, the original creators, are set to pen the screenplay for the upcoming sequel.

Eli Roth shared his enthusiasm for the project in November, stating, “We’re gonna take a year off so we can really, really write a great script. We want to outdo ourselves. Make it better than the first one.”

The big question on fans’ minds is what to expect from “Thanksgiving 2.” Will it be a direct continuation of the first film, following the fates of the surviving characters? Or will Eli Roth take a different slasher storyline altogether?

In an interview with Games Radar this week, Nell Verlaque and Rick Hoffman, who starred in the original film, strongly hinted at their involvement in Roth’s sequel. Verlaque expressed, “I think that it’ll be a continuation of where we last saw [Jess]. So we’ll see. But right now, I think [she’ll be back]. When I’ve spoken to Eli about what he wants to do, I think he wants to flesh out the characters a lot – you know, these are traumatic events that happen to these people. And I think the reason the first one worked so well is [because] the relationships between everyone were very strong and you understood all of that.”

Rick Hoffman, playing Jess’s father Thomas Wright, added, “Based on what I’m told, I’m involved – I don’t want to give anything away, but based on what I’m told by the director, it’s gonna be an interesting experience for sure.”

The original “Thanksgiving” plot revolves around a Thanksgiving-inspired killer wreaking havoc in Plymouth, Massachusetts, after a Black Friday riot ends in tragedy.

The cast for “Thanksgiving 2” includes Patrick Dempsey, Addison Rae, Jalen Thomas Brooks (“Walker”), Milo Manheim (“Zombies”), Nell Verlaque (“Big Shot”), Gina Gershon (“Chucky”), Tim Dillon, and Rick Hoffman (“Hostel”).
