Adapted from H.P. Lovecraft’s “The Thing On The Doorstep,” Joe Lynch, known for films like “Wrong Turn 2,” “Mayhem,” and “Creepshow,” wowed audiences with his new movie, “Suitable Flesh,” which had its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in June, receiving rave reviews. Now, horror enthusiasts can look forward to its release just in time for Halloween.
“Suitable Flesh” is set to bring Lovecraftian madness to theaters and Video on Demand (VOD) platforms on October 27, 2023. Following this theatrical release, the film will make its way to Shudder for exclusive streaming in January 2024.
Director Joe Lynch expresses his excitement for the trailer, stating, “When it comes to creating an encapsulated version of a film, especially one that’s a tonal rollercoaster like ‘Suitable Flesh,’ I don’t envy the task of the trailer producers to find that proper balance to seduce the viewer. But when I saw what the sickos at Sequence accomplished with this trailer, it kind of blew me away. They somehow struck the proper balance of creepy, sexy, campy and never forgot that we’re having fun with all these genres jumping into bed together for a proverbial roll in the hay.”
“Personally, I think this trailer FUCKS,” Lynch continues. “We think it’s the perfect taste of FLESH while it’s still jumping in the ‘FLESHtival’ sack around the world this fall and ‘spreading’ into theaters and VOD Oct 27th! ‘Lustcraft’ Lives.”
Barbara Crampton takes the lead in “Suitable Flesh,” with executive producer Brian Yuzna, known for “Re-Animator.” The screenplay is crafted by Dennis Paoli, the talented screenwriter behind “Re-Animator” and “From Beyond,” both Lovecraft adaptations in which Crampton also starred. With Paoli, Yuzna, Crampton, and Lynch involved, this new endeavor holds special significance for fans.
In “Suitable Flesh,” the story unfolds as a once-respected psychiatrist, played by Barbara Crampton, finds herself in a nightmarish descent into supernatural hysteria and gruesome deaths after she murders her young patient. These terrifying events are all connected to an ancient and seemingly unstoppable curse. The film also features an ensemble cast including Heather Graham, Judah Lewis, Bruce Davison, Johnathon Schaech, and Jonah Ray.
