‘Suitable Flesh,’ a Lovecraftian Film Shot in CthulhuScope, Unveils Retro-Style Poster
Joe Lynch’s Lovecraftian film “Suitable Flesh,” based on H.P. Lovecraft’s “The Thing On The Doorstep,” is set to release in theaters and VOD later this year, courtesy of RLJE Films. Collider has unveiled a brand new poster for the movie, featuring a retro 1980s style that perfectly captures the film’s aesthetic.
The poster for “Suitable Flesh,” showcased below, playfully highlights that the movie was “Filmed in CthulhuScope,” adding to the Lovecraftian allure. Fans of Lovecraft will surely appreciate this nod to the cosmic horror genre.
Mark Ward, RLJE Films’ Chief Acquisitions Officer, expressed excitement about the film, stating, “The cast of ‘Suitable Flesh,’ led by Heather Graham, delivers layered and complex performances in this fresh take on Lovecraft. We are thrilled to premiere this film at Tribeca, especially with longtime collaborators, actor/producer Barbara Crampton and director Joe Lynch.”
Barbara Crampton, known for her roles in Lovecraft adaptations like “Re-Animator,” stars in “Suitable Flesh,” which is executive produced by Brian Yuzna. The screenplay was penned by Dennis Paoli, the talented writer behind “Re-Animator” and “From Beyond.”
With Crampton, Paoli, Yuzna, and Lynch all involved, this new Lovecraftian offering promises to be something truly special.
In “Suitable Flesh,” the story follows a once-esteemed psychiatrist (played by Heather Graham) who, after murdering her young patient, witnesses her life descending into a nightmarish whirlwind of supernatural hysteria and gruesome deaths, all connected to an ancient curse that appears unstoppable. The film also stars Judah Lewis, Bruce Davison, Johnathon Schaech, and Jonah Ray.
Joe Lynch shared his thoughts on the film, stating, “When I read Dennis Paoli’s adaptation of the story, I felt there was a fantastic opportunity to update and subvert Lovecraft’s often old-fashioned sensibilities in a way that felt modern, relevant, and even dangerous, with a pinch of 90’s neo-noir and a dash of eroticism to spice up the stew. Working with Amp and such a fantastic cast, including Heather, Judah, Barbara, Bruce, and Johnathon, we’re incredibly excited that this sexy, funny, scary film isn’t just a modernized love letter to Lovecraft, but the kind of provocatively entertaining ‘sin-ema’ I believe audiences are eagerly anticipating!”
Barbara Crampton added, “We have been incredibly fortunate to work with top talent both behind and in front of the camera on our recent films. At Amp, we strive to develop material that is not only memorable and thought-provoking for the audience but also fresh and unconventional enough to attract the best creative collaborators. I was ecstatic when the formidable Joe Lynch and then Heather Graham signed on – her natural charm is always evident, but here we get to see a different, untapped side of her abilities. I’ve been thrilled to join the seasoned pros at Amp, and we are only just getting started.”
