Starring Danielle Deadwyler, ‘The Woman in the Yard’ is a Blumhouse Thriller Directed by ‘The Shallows’ Director
Jaume Collet-Serra, renowned for directing horror hits like “House of Wax,” “Orphan,” and “The Shallows,” is gearing up to helm the upcoming Universal and Blumhouse thriller, “The Woman in the Yard.” According to reports from Variety, the film has secured Danielle Deadwyler as its lead.
Set to hit theaters on January 10, 2025, “The Woman in the Yard” keeps its plot tightly under wraps, offering no logline to tease the storyline penned by Sam Stefanak.
Producer Jason Blum expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating, “‘The Woman in the Yard’ is the perfect match, a film that’s ambitious in scope but modest in budget that combines Jaume’s vision with the incomparable Danielle Deadwyler.” Blum also revealed that he has been eager to collaborate with Collet-Serra for “over a decade.”
This thriller marks a reunion for Collet-Serra and Deadwyler, who previously worked together on the action thriller “Carry On.” Deadwyler, known for her roles in the biopic “Till” and the Western “The Harder They Fall,” is making her mark in the horror genre, with her upcoming appearance in A24’s “I Saw the TV Glow,” which premiered at last month’s Sundance Film Festival.
In addition to her starring role, Deadwyler is also executive producing alongside Collet-Serra, Gabrielle Ebron, Scott Greenberg, and James Mora. Jason Blum and Stephanie Allain will serve as producers, with Haley Pigman and Jungyoon Kim overseeing the project for Blumhouse.
Audiences eagerly anticipate more details about this enigmatic thriller from Jaume Collet-Serra. Hopefully, plot details will emerge soon.
