Coming soon from the acclaimed horror production company DREAD is the highly anticipated release of “The Jester,” a spine-chilling horror film set to hit limited theaters on September 29, 2023, followed by a VOD release on October 3, 2023.
“The Jester” is the brainchild of writer and director Colin Krawchuk, who crafted the story in collaboration with Michael Sheffield. The film boasts an impressive lineup of executive producers, including Eduardo Sánchez, co-creator of the iconic horror sensation, “The Blair Witch Project,” alongside Patrick Ewald and Mary Beth McAndrews.
This eerie cinematic creation, “The Jester,” draws its inspiration from Krawchuk’s earlier short film trilogy.
The movie features a talented cast that includes Lelia Symington (known for her role in “Brut Force”), Matt Servitto (renowned for his work in “The Sopranos”), Ken Arnold (of “Swagger” fame), and Sam Lukowski (who previously appeared in “Satanic Hispanics”).
The plot of “The Jester” revolves around the recent passing of the sisters’ father, which reunites two estranged siblings. However, their reunion takes a horrifying turn as they become the targets of a malevolent entity known as The Jester. This sinister being, far more than a mere man in a mask, embarks on a relentless campaign of terror within a small town on the ominous night of Halloween. The key to survival lies in the hands of the two sisters, who must confront their dark past and uncover the secrets necessary to vanquish this unholy monster.
Epic Picture Group’s CEO, Patrick Ewald, expressed his excitement for the project, stating, “When Brian Clarke introduced me to Colin’s wildly popular YouTube shorts of ‘The Jester,’ which have amassed over 30 million views, I was immediately enthralled. I knew we had to transform these shorts into a feature film. It’s astonishing to witness how Colin has expanded upon his original concept, evolving it into a truly terrifying feature. Audiences are in for a chilling experience as they encounter the supernatural malevolence of The Jester.”
Director Colin Krawchuk shared his thoughts on the journey from a short film to a full-length feature, saying, “It’s been an exhilarating journey from our initial short film in 2016 to the grandeur of the big screen. Adapting the essence of a short into a feature presented unforeseen challenges, made possible only through the unwavering dedication of our passionate crew. I’m eager for audiences to witness our talented actors breathe life into these new characters, alongside a reimagined version of The Jester.”
