Sneak Peek at ‘The Exorcist: Believer’ – Exploring Diverse Beliefs and Unity

In just a few more weeks, horror enthusiasts can rejoice as one of the genre’s most iconic franchises makes its triumphant return to the silver screen with “The Exorcist: Believer.” Universal has unveiled an enticing new featurette video titled “Around the World,” offering fans a glimpse into the upcoming chills and thrills.

Directed by David Gordon Green, this fresh sequel to “The Exorcist” is a collaborative effort between Universal, Blumhouse, and Morgan Creek, setting the stage for an exciting new trilogy. The release date for the first installment of this trilogy has been set for October 6, 2023, and it stars Leslie Odom Jr. in a prominent role.

Here’s a sneak peek into the plot:

“Since the death of his pregnant wife in a Haitian earthquake 12 years ago, Victor Fielding (Leslie Odom, Jr.) has raised their daughter Angela (Lidya Jewett) on his own.

But when Angela and her friend Katherine (Olivia Marcum) disappear in the woods, only to return three days later with no memory of what happened, it unleashes a chain of events that will force Victor to confront the nadir of evil and, in his terror and desperation, seek out the only person alive who has witnessed anything like it before: Chris MacNeil (Ellen Burstyn).”

Peter Sattler (known for “Broken Diamonds”) and Gordon Green collaborated on the script for “Believer,” with a compelling story crafted by Green, Scott Teems (“Halloween Kills”), and Danny McBride (“Halloween”).

The “Exorcist” franchise has been relatively quiet on the big screen since the 2005 release of “Dominion: Prequel to The Exorcist,” an alternate version of the previous year’s “Exorcist: The Beginning.” These films followed in the footsteps of 1977’s “The Exorcist II: The Heretic” and 1990’s “The Exorcist III.”

More recently, “The Exorcist” found new life as a short-lived television series on Fox, which pleasantly surprised viewers with its excellence while cleverly existing in the same universe as the original classic.
