Action maestro John Woo returns with his latest action-thriller, ‘Silent Night,’ and the official trailer has just been released online, following its debut in movie theaters over the past weekend.

Entertainment Weekly exclusively premiered the ‘Silent Night’ trailer, which you can watch below. The film’s title holds a dual meaning, referring to its Christmas setting and its unique approach of being mostly devoid of dialogue. The trailer also follows this approach, focusing entirely on the explosive action and visceral violence that John Woo is renowned for.

Speaking of which…

‘Silent Night’ has received an “R” rating for “Strong bloody violence, drug use, and some language.” According to Entertainment Weekly, the film is set to hit theaters on December 1.

Produced by Capstone Studios and Thunder Road Films, ‘Silent Night’ stars Joel Kinnaman (known for ‘The Suicide Squad’) in the lead role, alongside Scott Mescudi (also known as Kid Cudi), Harold Torres, and Catalina Sandino Moreno.

In ‘Silent Night,’ written by Robert Archer Lynn (‘Prisoner,’ ‘Deadbox’), “A grieving father enacts his long-awaited revenge against a ruthless gang on Christmas Eve.”

John Woo shared with Vulture, “Very interesting movie. The whole movie is without dialogue. It allowed me to use visuals to tell the story, to convey how the character feels. We are using music instead of language. And the movie is all about sight and sound. The budget was a little tight, and the schedule was tight, but it made me change my working style. Usually, for a big movie, a studio movie, we shoot a lot of coverage, then leave it to the cutting room. But in this movie, I tried to combine things without doing any coverage shots. I had to force myself to use a new kind of technique. Some scenes were about two or three pages, but I did it all in one shot.”
