The much-anticipated official trailer for Saw X has finally debuted, exciting fans as it confirms the return of Shawnee Smith in her iconic role as Amanda Young, the franchise’s villain. Lionsgate, the studio behind the movie, has released an additional sneak peek this morning, offering a fresh glimpse of Amanda’s comeback. But how is Amanda Young still alive, you may ask?

Saw X serves as a direct sequel to the original Saw film, placing its events before those depicted in Saw II. It was in Saw III that both Amanda and Jigsaw met their demise, but now the upcoming movie takes us back to an earlier time in the franchise’s timeline, allowing Amanda’s character to be revisited.

Shawnee Smith’s Amanda Young began her journey as a survivor of one of Jigsaw’s early traps, eventually becoming his accomplice in his torturous schemes. This evolution turned her into a horror icon in her own right, leaving an indelible mark on the series.
