‘Saw X’ Makes a $2 Million Slash in Thursday Night Previews

Now showing in theaters nationwide, Saw X, the latest installment from Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures, marks the return of Jigsaw to the big screen. The film had preview showings in many theaters across the country last night.

Saw X grossed an estimated $2 million during Thursday preview screenings, surpassing the Thursday night numbers of recent entries in the series. The previous installment, Spiral: From the Book of Saw in 2021, earned $750,000 in Thursday previews, while Jigsaw took in $1.6 million during its previews back in 2017.

Jigsaw went on to earn $16 million domestically in its opening weekend. Given the strong start with $2 million in previews, it’s reasonable to expect that Saw X will likely generate $20+ million over the weekend.

Saw X is currently enjoying a Fresh rating of 84% on Rotten Tomatoes, marking a franchise first. It opened in 3,262 theaters across North America, making it the widest release in the franchise’s history. Internationally, the film will premiere in 50 territories, including the UK, Brazil, and Mexico, this weekend.

With a production budget of approximately $13 million, Saw X is expected to recoup its production and marketing costs in theaters relatively quickly.

Lionsgate teased, “The return of Tobin Bell to the franchise furthers Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures’ goal of a film that captures everything Saw fans love about the franchise, while also keeping them guessing with all-new traps and a new mystery to solve.”

“John Kramer (Tobin Bell) is back for the untold chapter of Jigsaw’s final games.”

“Set between the events of Saw I and II, a sick and desperate John travels to Mexico for a risky and experimental medical procedure in hopes of a miracle cure for his cancer – only to discover the entire operation is a scam to defraud the most vulnerable.”

“The infamous killer returns to his work, turning the tables on the con artists in his signature visceral way through devious, deranged, and ingenious traps.”

Saw X was directed by Kevin Greutert, known for his work on Saw VI and Saw 3D.
