After months of speculation, it’s now confirmed: Samara Weaving and Radio Silence are set to return for the eagerly awaited sequel, ‘Ready or Not 2‘, as reported by Deadline.

The announcement came from Radio Silence during a Searchlight screening of their 2019 hit film. Details about production and the release date will be revealed later.

Directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the original ‘Ready or Not’ featured a talented cast including Adam Brody, Mark O’Brien, Henry Czerny, and Andie MacDowell.

The first film introduced a dark mythology surrounding the wealthy Le Domas family, who have made a pact with the devil, leading them to partake in strange—and deadly—wedding night rituals. With the first film ending in chaos as Weaving’s character Grace takes vengeance, there’s plenty of potential to explore new directions in the sequel.

Weaving’s enthusiasm for continuing the story comes as no surprise. She recently told ComicBook.com, “I’m all in. I think we’re all in. I don’t know if we’ve had our blood handshake, but pretty much. We’ve done the spit handshake, but we haven’t cut each other’s hands and rubbed our blood together.”

Regarding her attraction to the horror genre, Weaving shared, “Horror people are just cool. It’s a different vibe; it’s a different breed. And I just love that tone; I love horror.”

Directors Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin previously told Entertainment Weekly that they are actively working on ‘Ready or Not 2’, teasing that the script is “an absolute banger.” They expressed their excitement about the project, regardless of how it unfolds.

The duo has been on a successful streak since their 2019 breakout, following up ‘Ready or Not’ with ‘Scream’, ‘Scream VI’, and this year’s ‘Abigail’.

Overseeing the sequel for Searchlight Pictures will be VP of Production Richard Ruiz and Creative Executive Cornelia Burleigh, who will report to Co-Heads of Production and Development DanTram Nguyen and Katie Goodson-Thomas. The producing team includes Tripp Vinson, Bradley J. Fischer, William Sherak, and James Vanderbilt, with Chad Villella and Tara Farney serving as executive producers.
