Rudy Mancuso Joins ‘Welcome to Derry’ Cast in Significant Recurring Role
HBO’s original series “Welcome to Derry” has expanded its cast this week, as reported by Deadline, with Rudy Mancuso (known for “The Flash”) securing a pivotal recurring role.
The series delves into the backstory of Pennywise the Clown, with Bill Skarsgård reprising his iconic role. Set in the 1960s, the narrative precedes the events of the 2017 film “It: Part One,” adapted from Stephen King’s chilling novel. Andy Muschietti is slated to direct multiple episodes of this Warner Bros. Television production, which he co-developed with Barbara Muschietti and Jason Fuchs.
Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti, and Fuchs draw from King’s novel for the storyline, producing under their Double Dream banner alongside Brad Caleb Kane, David Coatsworth, Skarsgård, Shelley Meals, and Lee and Lin. Fuchs and Kane are also co-showrunners, with Fuchs penning the inaugural episode.
Originally published in 1986, King’s sprawling novel was first adapted into a miniseries in 1990, starring Tim Curry as Pennywise. The tale unfolds in Derry, Maine, where a group of childhood friends, known as the Losers’ Club, confronts the menacing Pennywise both as children and decades later as adults.
Mancuso joins an ensemble already featuring Alixandra Fuchs, Kimberly Guerrero, Dorian Grey, Thomas Mitchell, BJ Harrison, Peter Outerbridge, Shane Marriott, Chad Rook, Joshua Odjick, Morningstar Angeline, Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, James Remar, Madeleine Stowe, and Stephen Rider.
The series is slated to debut on HBO and HBO Max in 2025.
