The much-anticipated trailer for Robert Eggers’ remake of ‘Nosferatu‘ made its debut exclusively in theaters over the weekend, followed swiftly by its online release as promised.
Set for a Christmas Day premiere on December 25, 2024, courtesy of Focus Features, ‘Nosferatu’ is poised to bring a fresh take on the iconic horror tale. The teaser trailer, now available for viewing, offers a tantalizing glimpse into the dark and gothic world Eggers has crafted. Bill Skarsgård takes on the role of Nosferatu/Count Orlok, shrouded in mystery and menace as he haunts the narrative.
Eggers, known for his acclaimed films ‘The Witch’ and ‘The Northman’, not only directs but also penned the script and serves as a producer. Joining Skarsgård are a stellar cast including Willem Dafoe, Nicholas Hoult, Emma Corrin, Lily-Rose Depp, Aaron Taylor-Johnson (as Kraven the Hunter), Simon McBurney, and Ralph Ineson.
The original ‘Nosferatu’, directed by F.W. Murnau in 1922, and Werner Herzog’s 1979 adaptation are pivotal pieces in cinematic history. Eggers’ version promises to delve into a gothic tale of obsession set in 19th century Germany, exploring the chilling dynamic between a haunted young woman and the ancient Transylvanian vampire who pursues her, bringing terror in his wake.
