Do you remember quicksand? Movies back in the day certainly made you frightened of being sucked down into a patch while wandering in the woods, but there’s a high chance you never actually ended up encountering any quicksand in real life. Of course, this is a good thing. Nevertheless, as you might expect, the people in the upcoming survival thriller Quicksand aren’t so fortunate.

According to Deadline, Shudder has purchased Quicksand, with a June 23 launch date.

According to Deadline, “the English-language Colombian film written by Matt Pitts (Westworld) and directed by Andrés Beltrán (Tarumama) will also be available for streaming on AMC+ in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.”

“Quicksand” stars Carolina Gaitán (Encanto) and Allan Hawco (Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan) as a divorced American couple who travel to the nation for a business meeting. A storm causes them to become caught in a pit of quicksand while on a trip through the rainforest.

“Without the ability to move, it becomes a survival struggle as they face the elements of the jungle and a deadly snake in an attempt to escape.”

“Creating Quicksand was an exciting and challenging experience.” “I hope people can relate to the tremendous feelings Carolina and Allan so well conveyed,” Beltrán said in a statement. “We shot the film on location in a freezing forest in Colombia’s mountains.” Despite the severe weather circumstances for the performers and crew, we remained to enjoy the process since we wanted to present this narrative as authentically as possible.”

Produced by Jason Cherubini, Nicolás Reyes, and Sean Patrick Burke, with exec producers Richard Switzer, Martin Ramos, John Harris, and Kris Meyer.
