Renowned filmmaker Renny Harlin has carved a niche in the horror genre throughout his career, boasting a repertoire that includes notable works such as “Prison,” “A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master,” “Deep Blue Sea,” “The Exorcist: The Beginning,” and “Devil’s Pass.” Now, he’s set to make a chilling comeback with a slew of upcoming projects, including “Deep Water” and Lionsgate’s trilogy reboot of “The Strangers.”

Adding to his repertoire is the imminent release of “Refuge,” yet another spine-tingling creation from Harlin. Distributed by Vertical Entertainment, “Refuge” is slated to hit VOD platforms on Friday, April 19, offering viewers a riveting horror experience.

The official trailer for “Refuge” sets the tone for this horror-thriller, which follows U.S. military veteran Sergeant Rick Pedroni, who returns home from a harrowing tour of duty in Afghanistan, profoundly changed by a sinister encounter. Despite officials attributing his erratic behavior to PTSD and mandating trauma therapy, Rick’s wife Kate uncovers a chilling truth: her husband is possessed by a malevolent spirit.

Leading the cast of Renny Harlin’s “Refuge” are Jason Flemyng (“Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels”), Raza Jaffrey (“Homeland”), and Sophie Simnett (Netflix’s “Daybreak”). Johanna Harlin (“Class Reunion 3”) and Aston McAuley (20th Century Fox’s “Rocketman”) round out the ensemble. The screenplay for “Refuge” was crafted by action sci-fi writer Ben Sztajnkrycer.

“Refuge” earns its “R” rating for its depiction of violent content, themes of suicide, strong language, and some sexual content. Brace yourself for a gripping journey into darkness with Renny Harlin’s latest offering.
