The Damned, a chilling psychological horror set in the 19th century, is gearing up for its theatrical release on January 3, 2025. Directed by Thordur Palsson, the film’s official poster has been unveiled today, giving fans a glimpse of the tense atmosphere that awaits.

The story follows Eva (Odessa Young), a widow living in an isolated fishing outpost during a brutal winter. When a mysterious ship crashes off the coast, Eva and her small, tight-knit community face an agonizing decision: rescue the shipwrecked crew or conserve their dwindling supplies for survival. As they grapple with the consequences of their choice, guilt and dread consume them, and they begin to feel as though they are being punished for their actions.

The Damned stars Odessa Young and Joe Cole, with supporting performances from Siobhan Finneran (Downton Abbey), Rory McCann (Game of Thrones), Turlough Convery (Ready Player One), and Lewis Gribben (Black Mirror), among others.

The screenplay, penned by Jamie Hannigan, is based on a story by Palsson. The film made its debut earlier this year at the Tribeca Film Festival, where Bloody Disgusting’s Meagan described it as “a well-crafted cautionary campfire tale,” noting Palsson’s restrained approach to folkloric elements in favor of exploring the unsettling ambiguity of superstition.
