Blumhouse Television’s documentary series Worst Roommate Ever brings chilling true stories of seemingly innocent roommates who turn into real-life nightmares for their unsuspecting victims. Based on a New York Magazine article by William Brennan, the series is now being adapted into a feature film.

According to Variety, Paul Feig (*Ghostbusters: Answer the Call*, *A Simple Favor*, *Last Christmas*) will direct the film adaptation for Blumhouse.

The movie will follow a recently single woman who rents a room to what seems like the perfect gentleman. However, she soon realizes that his deceit goes beyond a false name and fake application—she has unknowingly invited a serial squatter into her home who isn’t going to leave quietly.

Stephen Susco (*Unfriended: Dark Web*) has written the screenplay. Feig will produce the film with his partner Laura Fischer, alongside Jason Blum.

Feig commented, “Jason and I have been looking for the perfect project to collaborate on for years, and this story is perfect for delivering the scares, thrills, emotion, and comedic dread that we both love. I couldn’t be more thrilled to have Jason as the best roommate ever for this film.”

Blum added, “Worst Roommate Ever” resonates deeply because the internet makes it easy to deceive others. The story is jaw-dropping and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Paul is the ideal director for this project because his work perfectly balances the dark and the light. I’m excited to see his vision for this story.”

You can stream two seasons of *Worst Roommate Ever* on Netflix now.
