Patrick Lussier to Direct ’47 Meters Down: The Wreck’
Following the success of shark-themed blockbusters “47 Meters Down” (2017) and “47 Meters Down: Uncaged” (2019), the franchise is set to make waves once again with its third installment, “47 Meters Down: The Wreck.”
Deadline has confirmed that Patrick Lussier, known for his work on “Drive Angry” and “My Bloody Valentine 3D,” will take the director’s chair for the latest installment. FilmNation will kickstart sales for the film at Cannes.
Johannes Roberts and Ernest Riera collaborated on the screenplay for the upcoming movie. Roberts, having directed both previous films in the series, brings his expertise to the table once more.
In an exclusive report, Deadline outlines the plot: “The story will revolve around a father’s journey to repair his relationship with his daughter during a scuba diving expedition in picturesque tropical waters, exploring a renowned shipwreck. However, a mishap with their master diver leaves them stranded and vulnerable inside the maze-like wreck. As tensions mount and their oxygen supply dwindles, the duo must rely on their newfound bond to evade the dangers of the wreck and the relentless assault of bloodthirsty great white sharks.”
Producer Byron Allen, founder/chairman/CEO of Allen Media Group, expresses confidence in the new venture: “’47 Meters Down: The Wreck’ seamlessly continues our shark-infested saga. This film is sure to keep audiences gripped with fear and anticipation.”
Director Roberts shares Allen’s enthusiasm: “We’re thrilled to plunge audiences back into the depths. ’47 Meters Down: The Wreck’ promises to be the most intense chapter yet.”
The original “47 Meters Down,” featuring sisters facing off against hungry sharks, raked in $62 million at the box office. Its sequel, “Uncaged,” ventured into an underwater cave system, concluding its global box office run with $47.5 million.
