Disney’s highly anticipated Haunted Mansion film, based on the beloved dark ride attraction found at Disneyland, Magic Kingdom, and Tokyo Disneyland, is set to hit theaters on July 28th. To build excitement and provide a glimpse into the movie, a new trailer has been unveiled online, just ten days before its release. Check out the trailer above for a thrilling sneak peek.
Haunted Mansion boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Rosario Dawson (Daredevil), Chase Dillon (The Harder They Fall), Owen Wilson (Loki), Tiffany Haddish (Girls Trip), LaKeith Stanfield (Get Out), Danny DeVito (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween), Winona Ryder (Stranger Things), Jared Leto (Morbius), and Dan Levy (Schitt’s Creek).
Directed by Justin Simien (Dear White People) and written by Katie Dippold (Ghostbusters), the film follows the story of a doctor (Dawson) and her 9-year-old son (Dillon) as they move into a mysteriously affordable mansion in New Orleans, seeking a fresh start. However, they soon discover that the place holds secrets far beyond their imagination. Desperate for assistance, they reach out to a priest (Wilson), who enlists the help of a widowed scientist-turned-failed paranormal expert (Stanfield), a psychic from the French Quarter (Haddish), and a crotchety historian (DeVito).
Curtis and Leto portray iconic characters from the ride: Madame Leota, a ghostly psychic whose head is encased in a crystal ball, and the Hatbox Ghost, respectively.
The Haunted Mansion attraction has previously inspired a film of the same name released in 2003, as well as a Muppet version aptly titled The Muppets Haunted Mansion.
Director Justin Simien expressed his excitement about the film, stating, “As a lifelong fan of the Haunted Mansion attraction, I’m beyond excited to share the teaser trailer for our new film adaptation featuring an incredible cast. Our team has worked tirelessly to create a scary, funny, and cinematically otherworldly adventure for both new and die-hard fans to enjoy! I can’t wait for audiences to experience this big-screen version of the iconic Disney attraction.”
Produced by Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, with executive producers Nick Reynolds and Tom Peitzman, Haunted Mansion promises to deliver a spooky and entertaining adventure that will thrill both longtime enthusiasts and newcomers alike.
