Official ‘Companion’ Trailer Unveils the Sci-Fi Plot of Thatcher’s New Horror Film
After months of cryptic hints, NEON has finally dropped the official trailer for their upcoming film, “Longlegs,” offering audiences a clearer glimpse into the eerie narrative that awaits.
Scheduled to hit theaters on July 12, “Longlegs” promises to deliver a spine-chilling experience while keeping its enigmatic core intact. Directed by Osgood Perkins, known for his work on “The Blackcoat’s Daughter” and “Gretel & Hansel,” the film stars the legendary Nicolas Cage alongside Maika Monroe, with Monroe portraying an FBI agent and Cage embodying the role of a serial killer.
Described as a throwback to classic Hollywood psychological thrillers, “Longlegs” has already garnered favorable early reviews, drawing comparisons to the iconic ’90s film “The Silence of the Lambs.”
In “Longlegs,” FBI Agent Lee Harker (Monroe) is tasked with unraveling the mystery of a notorious serial killer (Cage), delving into a web of occult elements as the investigation unfolds. As the stakes escalate, Harker finds herself entangled in a race against time to prevent further tragedy, all while confronting her own personal connection to the relentless killer.
Alicia Witt (“The Walking Dead”) and Blair Underwood (“American Crime Story”) round out the cast, adding depth to the suspenseful narrative.
With an “R” rating for its intense violence, unsettling imagery, and language, “Longlegs” promises to push the boundaries of the horror genre.
Produced by Nicolas Cage’s Saturn Films, along with Dan Kagan, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Dave Caplan, and Chris Ferguson, “Longlegs” is poised to captivate audiences with its chilling tale of obsession and intrigue.
