Prepare for a chilling blast from the past as the ’90s slasher franchise “I Know What You Did Last Summer” makes its comeback to the silver screen with a brand new installment slated for release in Summer 2025.

Mark your calendars for July 18, 2025, when the franchise will once again haunt theaters with its signature blend of terror and suspense.

Helming the new chapter is director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, known for her work on “Do Revenge,” while Leah McKendrick, writer of “M.F.A.,” takes on the screenplay.

While details about the cast remain under wraps, speculation abounds regarding the potential return of original stars Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr., hinting at the possibility of a “legacy sequel.”

Directed by Jim Gillespie and penned by Kevin Williamson (“Scream”), the original “I Know What You Did Last Summer” hit screens in 1997, drawing inspiration from Lois Duncan’s novel. It spawned sequels in 1998 and 2006, with Hewitt and Prinze Jr. reprising their roles in the first sequel.

Set against the backdrop of a small seaside town, the 1997 slasher followed “four young friends bound by a tragic accident [who] are reunited when they find themselves being stalked by a hook-wielding maniac.”

As anticipation mounts for this latest installment, fans of the franchise eagerly await more spine-tingling updates. Stay tuned for further developments.
