Official ‘Companion’ Trailer Unveils the Sci-Fi Plot of Thatcher’s New Horror Film
This Valentine’s Day, love takes a bloody turn. The filmmakers behind Freaky, Happy Death Day, and Werewolves Within have teamed up for this year’s slasher flick, Heart Eyes. A brand-new official trailer has just dropped ahead of the film’s theatrical release on February 7, 2025.
The trailer promises a bloody good time, showcasing a series of gory kills that are sure to make this Valentine’s Day unforgettable—for all the wrong reasons. Prepare yourself for a seriously bloody Valentine’s celebration this year.
Thanks to recent hits like the Scream and Halloween franchises, along with Eli Roth’s Thanksgiving in 2023, the holiday slasher movie is making a big comeback, harking back to its heyday in the 1980s. And fans can look forward to even more festive horror, as Bloody Disgusting and Cineverse are rebooting Silent Night, Deadly Night later this year.
Directed by Josh Ruben (Werewolves Within, Scare Me), Heart Eyes stars Mason Gooding (Scream) and Olivia Holt (Cruel Summer) in lead roles. The film, rated R for strong violence, gore, language, and some sexual content, is sure to be a brutal ride.
Here’s the official plot synopsis, courtesy of Spyglass:
“For the past several years, the Heart Eyes Killer has wreaked havoc on Valentine’s Day by stalking and murdering romantic couples. This Valentine’s Day, no couple is safe.”
Along with Gooding and Holt, the film features an impressive cast, including Gigi Zumbado (The Real Bros of Simi Valley), Michaela Watkins (Dinner with the Parents), Devon Sawa (Final Destination, Chucky), and Jordana Brewster (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning).
The film’s screenplay is penned by Phillip Murphy (The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard) and Freaky collaborators Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky) & Michael Kennedy (Freaky). The project is produced by Landon and Divide/Conquer’s Greg Gilreath and Adam Hendricks (M3gan, Totally Killer). Spyglass Media Group’s Gary Barber and Chris Stone will serve as executive producers, alongside Mel Turner, Phillip Murphy, and Michael Kennedy.
Get ready for a Valentine’s Day you’ll never forget with Heart Eyes, arriving exclusively in theaters this February.
