The directors of “The Passenger,” Raúl Cerezo and Fernando González Gómez, have a new project on the horizon titled “The Elderly.” Bloody Disgusting reports that an eerie clip from the film has been released, teasing the strange behavior of the locals.

The clip introduces a nightmare sequence, culminating in a scare that highlights how even the church fails to provide safety during a horrific heatwave.

After a successful festival run, including Sitges, Fantastic, and Fantasia, where Eguileor received the “Best Actor” award, “The Elderly” is now releasing in theaters on October 13, 2023. The film will be available on Blu-ray and VOD starting October 31, 2023.

“Following the sudden suicide of his wife, Manuel begins acting violently strange. Soon, a series of paranormal events has all of the local elderly behaving oddly. They all seem to know something the young do not – paired with a lust for blood.”

Zorion Eguileor (The Platform) stars alongside Gustavo Salmerón, Paula Gallego, Irene Anula, Juan Acedo, and Ángela Gamonal.

The script for “The Elderly” was written by Raúl Cerezo, Javier Trigales, and Rubén Sánchez Trigos.

The film had a successful festival run, gaining recognition at Fantasia, where it was praised for continuing “Filmax’s return to top-tier genre works that stand completely alone in Spanish horror cinema.”

Producer credits go to Persons Films’ Jose Luis Rancaño and La Dalia Films’ Mamen Espinosa.
