Neve Campbell Reveals Scream 7 Will Center on Sidney Prescott’s Story
There hasn’t been a major update on Scream 7 in a few months, but it’s confirmed that Neve Campbell will return as Sidney Prescott.
Campbell revealed to ET Online that the seventh film will focus on Sidney Prescott as the central character. “We are going to follow Sidney,” she confirmed. “They pitched the concept to me, and that’s why I decided to join. I love these movies; it’s been such a joy to be a part of them. I never imagined being involved in a film franchise that would endure for so many decades.”
Sidney was a supporting character in Scream (2022) but did not appear in Scream VI (2023) due to a pay dispute. Scream VI and its predecessor, directed by Radio Silence (Abigail), introduced new characters alongside the legacy ones, but significant changes have occurred since then.
Recent months have seen controversy surrounding the franchise. New leads Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega have both exited the project—Barrera was fired, and Ortega’s departure was announced shortly after. It remains unclear if Jasmin Savoy Brown or Mason Gooding will return for Scream 7.
Original Scream writer Kevin Williamson will direct the upcoming film, with Courteney Cox expected to reprise her role as Gale Weathers. The script for Scream 7, which is still untitled, was penned by Guy Busick, based on a story by James Vanderbilt and Busick.
Stay tuned for more updates on Scream 7 as they become available.
