Following the success of Roar Uthaug’s Norwegian monster movie “Troll,” which premiered on Netflix in December of last year, a sequel is officially in the works.

Variety reports that “Troll 2” will see Roar Uthaug reuniting with writer Espen Aukan and producers Espen Horn and Kristian Strand Sinkerud, all from Motion Blur.

Production for the sequel is scheduled to commence sometime next year.

In the original “Troll,” the story revolves around the awakening of an ancient troll in a Norwegian mountain, prompting a disparate group of heroes to unite in an effort to prevent it from wreaking havoc.

The cast of the first film includes Marie Wilmann, Kim Falck, Mads Sjøgård Pettersen, and Gard Eidsvold.

With the success of the original film, fans can eagerly anticipate the return of Norwegian monsters in “Troll 2.”
