Variety reports that NEON has chosen the Sundance film Eileen, a thriller with a cast led by Anne Hathaway and Thomasin McKenzie (Last Night in Soho).

According to Variety, “Neon will release the film theatrically this fall.”

William Oldroyd (“Lady Macbeth”) directed Eileen, an adaptation of Ottessa Moshfegh’s acclaimed novel. Moshfegh co-wrote the script with Luke Goebel.

The story revolves around Eileen, a young secretary who develops feelings for a new coworker, a confident counselor to troubled teenagers at the prison where they both work. Their friendship takes an unexpected turn, drastically altering both of their lives.

“Seeing my book come to life on the big screen has always been a dream of mine.” “The Sundance premiere was a beautiful preview of what is to come,” Moshfegh said.
