‘My Animal’ – Amandla Stenberg Drops New Single Written for Werewolf Romance Film
Amandla Stenberg, known for their role in “Bodies Bodies Bodies,” stars in the unique werewolf movie “My Animal,” which is now playing in select theaters and available on VOD. The multitalented actor has not only taken the lead role but has also written and performed a new single titled “Wicked Animal,” which is now available for streaming.
Stenberg’s latest single, where they took on the roles of writer, producer, and performer, is ready for listeners to enjoy.
In a press release, Stenberg shared their thoughts on the track, stating, “I wrote this track from the bathroom of a hotel in a tiny town situated between mountains of snow in northern Ontario during the filming of our movie My Animal. Sometimes my costar Bobbi and I wandered up and down the icy block that made up downtown, but most of the time we found solace from the cold in our room together, singing on handheld karaoke mics. This song came from that place of deep isolation and playfulness.”
The werewolf film “My Animal,” directed by Jacqueline Castel in her feature debut, has earned an “R” rating for its content, including “Language throughout, sexual content, nudity, some drug use, and violence.”
In addition to Amandla Stenberg, the horror movie features Bobbi Salvör Menuez, Stephen Mchattie, Heidi Von Palleske, Cory Lipman, and Joe Apollonio.
The film’s plot revolves around Heather, a teenage goalie who is an outcast longing to join her small town’s hockey team. She falls in love with Jonny, a captivating but tormented figure skater who is new to town. Despite Heather’s struggles with her alcoholic mother, her concealed sexual orientation, and a familial curse that turns her into a feral wolf during the full moon, their relationship blossoms.
As Heather and Jonny’s secret relationship clashes with the conformity of their tight-knit community, it reveals dangerous truths and sets the stage for a passionate and violent night of personal transformation.
The screenplay for “My Animal” was written by Jae Matthews of Boy Harsher.
