Universal has announced a chilling release date for director Mike Flanagan‘s new Exorcist movie, set to haunt theaters on March 13, 2026, fittingly landing on a Friday the 13th.
This latest entry in The Exorcist franchise, produced by Blumhouse and Morgan Creek, promises a fresh narrative within its established universe, distinct from David Gordon Green’s planned trilogy, which has been shelved. Plot specifics are currently kept under wraps, but Flanagan has hinted at a bold and terrifying reimagining.
Flanagan, known for his work on horror favorites like Oculus and Hush, expressed his reverence for The Exorcist, remarking, “It is an honor to have the chance to try something fresh, bold, and terrifying within its universe.” He reunites with Blumhouse, with whom he has a successful creative history.
Produced by Trevor Macy through Intrepid Pictures and Flanagan’s Red Room Pictures, the film marks their fourth collaboration with Blumhouse. John Scherer is also onboard as a producer for Intrepid.
