Mike Flanagan, known for his work on “Gerald’s Game” and “Doctor Sleep,” is returning to the world of Stephen King with the adaptation of “The Life of Chuck.” Today, Flanagan unveiled the full cast for the project.
The previously announced stars for this Stephen King adaptation include Chiwetel Ejiofor, Karen Gillan, Jacob Tremblay, Tom Hiddleston, and Mark Hamill. In a Twitter thread, Flanagan revealed that Matthew Lillard and Heather Langenkamp will also join the impressive lineup.
The cast list extends further, featuring both new faces and familiar figures from the world of Mike Flanagan:
Mia Sara, Benjamin Pajak, Trinity Jo-li Bliss, QâOrianka Kilcher, Antonio Raul Corbo, Harvey Guillen, David Dastmalchian, Kate Siegel, Carl Lumbly, Annalise Basso, Samantha Sloyan, Rahul Kohli, Matt Biedel, Sauriyan Sapkota, Saidah Arrika Ekulona, Michael Trucco, Violet McGraw, and Molly C. Quinn.
In a tweet, Flanagan expressed, “The Life of Chuck is a very personal story for me, and a movie I am so grateful will be in the world. Weâll keep you posted with more updates as they come.”
Based on a short story from King’s 2020 anthology “If It Bleeds,” “The Life of Chuck” weaves together three separate stories to create the reverse biography of Charles Krantz. It starts with his death from a brain tumor at the age of 39 and concludes with his childhood in a supposedly haunted house.
According to Deadline, the project will draw tonal inspiration from King’s classics like “Stand By Me,” “The Shawshank Redemption,” and “The Green Mile.” Flanagan will handle both the scriptwriting and production through Intrepid Pictures.
In the past year, Netflix also adapted another Stephen King story, “Mr. Harriganâs Phone,” sourced from King’s “If It Bleeds” collection.
