Marcus Dunstan Hints at New Developments for ‘The Collected’

It’s been a few years since we last heard about The Collected, the anticipated third film in the horror trilogy that began with The Collector and continued with The Collection. Production on the film briefly began in 2020 before it was halted, but it looks like the project is getting a new lease on life in 2024.

In a recent interview with YouTube’s David Clair-Bennett, director Marcus Dunstan, who also helmed The Collector and The Collection, shared an exciting update about the film.

Dunstan revealed, “After five years of complicated developments, The Collector is finally back on track. We’re thrilled to have Josh Stewart and Emma Fitzpatrick returning, and we’re committed to doing this the right way.”

He added, “We’re in the early stages right now. We want to respect the time that’s passed and ensure that the film reflects where we are now. We can’t just recreate what we had planned before; that was from a different era. Our goal is to make the smartest, most authentic movie possible while staying true to the characters.”

Stewart will reprise his role as Arkin, with Fitzpatrick also returning. The cast is set to include Randy Havens (Stranger Things, Godzilla: King of the Monsters), Dot-Marie Jones (American Horror Story, 3 From Hell), and Navi Rawat (Feast, The Collection), along with horror icon Tom Atkins (The Fog, Halloween 3).

Marcus Dunstan, who co-wrote the script with his Collector and Collection collaborator Patrick Melton, will direct. As the end of The Collection saw Stewart’s Arkin literally “collect” the Collector, the title The Collected seems fitting.

Stay tuned for more updates on The Collected as they become available.
