Mads Mikkelsen’s Unyielding Desire for a “Hannibal” Revival: A Quest for a Fitting Home
Mads Mikkelsen Expresses Hope for a “Hannibal” Revival, But Show Remains Homeless.
The future of the critically acclaimed series “Hannibal” is still uncertain, leaving fans wondering if it will ever find new life. However, both creator Bryan Fuller and star Mads Mikkelsen continue to fuel speculation about a potential comeback. Mikkelsen recently shared his thoughts on the show’s future during the red carpet event for “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.”
When asked about the possibility of “Hannibal” returning, Mikkelsen’s response indicated his eagerness to reprise his iconic role. The main obstacle, however, is finding a suitable platform to host the show.
“There’s always a chance,” Mikkelsen told Deadline. “It’s all about finding a home for it. Of course, we’re running out of time. We can’t wait 20 years… but in the next couple of years, if someone finds a home, we are all ready to take it up again.”
Since NBC canceled “Hannibal” in 2015, Bryan Fuller has been actively campaigning for its revival. Unfortunately, there hasn’t been any concrete progress toward bringing the show back. The hope is that a network or streaming service will recognize its value and greenlight a fourth season.
“Hannibal” originally aired for three seasons on NBC from 2013 to 2015, garnering a devoted fanbase eagerly awaiting its return for almost a decade. While the recent CBS series “Clarice” attempted to revive the world of “The Silence of the Lambs” in 2021, it has seemingly faded into obscurity.
The return of Hannibal Lecter to the screen feels inevitable, and fans are hopeful that Mads Mikkelsen will once again step into the role. As we await further updates, stay tuned for any developments on the future of “Hannibal.”
