Directed by Zelda Williams and penned by Diablo Cody (known for “Juno” and “Jennifer’s Body”), “Lisa Frankenstein” is set to electrify movie theaters nationwide on February 9.

To add fuel to the excitement, Diablo Cody dropped a bombshell revelation this week: “Lisa Frankenstein” shares the same universe as “Jennifer’s Body”!

“I am just declaring that this movie takes place in the same universe,” Cody shared with Deadline. “I have decided that. I will not say that you’d see any overt references to that but I’m saying it.”

In a related vein, Cody expressed her ongoing enthusiasm for the world of “Jennifer’s Body.” She disclosed to Bloody Disgusting that she’s eager to work on a sequel if given the opportunity.

“YES! I wanna do a sequel,” Cody exclaimed. “I am not done with Jennifer’s Body. I just need to find… I need to partner with people who believe in it as much as I do, and that hasn’t really happened yet. I need someone to believe in it who has a billion dollars.”

Leading the cast for Focus Features are Kathryn Newton (“Freaky”) and Cole Sprouse (“Riverdale”), with the film earning a “PG-13” rating for “bloody images and sexual material.”

Joining the ensemble are Carla Gugino (“The Fall of the House of Usher”), Liza Soberano (“Alone/Together”), Joe Chrest (“Stranger Things”), and Henry Eikenberry (“The Crowded Room”).

In “Lisa Frankenstein,” set in 1989, the story revolves around an unpopular high schooler who accidentally revives a handsome Victorian corpse during a lightning storm and embarks on a mission to reconstruct him into the man of her dreams using a broken tanning bed in her garage.

The official plot synopsis teases a twisted romantic journey filled with love, horror, and a few missing body parts along the way: “A coming of RAGE love story about a misunderstood teenager and her high school crush, who happens to be a handsome corpse. After a set of playfully horrific circumstances bring him back to life, the two embark on a murderous journey to find love, happiness… and a few missing body parts along the way.”
