A fresh and inventive reimagining of Mary Shelley’s timeless horror classic is making its way to the silver screen in the form of “Lisa Frankenstein,” a film penned by Diablo Cody (best known for “Jennifer’s Body”) and skillfully directed by Zelda Williams.

Leading the cast for Focus Features are the talented Kathryn Newton (of “Freaky” fame) and Cole Sprouse, renowned for his role in “Riverdale.” The official trailer for this exciting venture has been unveiled this morning and is available for your viewing pleasure.

Mark your calendars for February 9, 2024, as that’s when “Lisa Frankenstein” is set to hit theaters. Alongside the leading duo, the film features a stellar supporting cast including Carla Gugino (“The Fall of the House of Usher”), Liza Soberano (“Alone/Together”), Joe Chrest (“Stranger Things”), and Henry Eikenberry (“The Crowded Room”).

In “Lisa Frankenstein,” the story unfolds in 1989, following the journey of an unpopular high school student who unwittingly reanimates a dashing Victorian cadaver during a lightning storm. She embarks on a quest to transform him into the man of her dreams, utilizing the makeshift resources found within her garage, including a broken tanning bed.

Here’s a fresh plot synopsis to pique your interest: “This is a coming-of-rage love story, featuring a misunderstood teenager and her high school crush, who just so happens to be a remarkably handsome reanimated corpse. Amidst a backdrop of macabre yet playful circumstances, they set forth on a murderous journey in search of love, happiness, and perhaps a few missing body parts.”

The creative genius behind this project, Diablo Cody, also takes on the role of producer alongside Mason Novick. “Lisa Frankenstein” promises to be a unique and intriguing twist on a classic tale, blending elements of horror, romance, and dark humor in a way that’s sure to captivate audiences.
