The iconic ‘Leprechaun’ franchise is set to continue its magical journey with a fresh vision. Following the success of ‘Leprechaun Returns’ in 2018, Lionsgate has now hired director Felipe Vargas to bring a new take on the beloved series, as reported by THR.

Penned by Mike Van Waes, the screenplay promises to deliver a reimagined storyline that will captivate audiences once again. While original star Warwick Davis is not expected to reprise his role, the production is in capable hands, with Roy Lee producing through Vertigo Entertainment.

Erin Westerman, president of production for Lionsgate’s Motion Picture Group, expressed excitement about reviving the franchise, stating, “Thirty years after its debut, this franchise still casts a spell, and we’re thrilled to be bringing it back with a new vision.” Westerman praised the expertise of producers Roy and Miri, particularly in the genre, and expressed confidence in Felipe Vargas’ ability to create a terrifying and enjoyable film.

The ‘Leprechaun’ franchise began in 1993 with Mark Jones’ original horror-comedy. It spawned five sequels featuring Warwick Davis as the mischievous creature, followed by a reboot titled ‘Leprechaun Origins.’ The most recent installment, ‘Leprechaun Returns,’ served as a direct sequel to the original film, but introduced Linden Porco as the new actor behind the iconic character.

Fans of the franchise can look forward to a fresh and thrilling chapter in the ‘Leprechaun’ series, as Felipe Vargas takes the helm to breathe new life into this enduring and enchanting tale.
